It gives me great pleasure to extend this invitation to you to attend the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2008 to be held at the IMPACT international Exhibition & Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand between 18 - 26 January, 2008.

     All Thais in the tourism industry look forward to our fifth hosting of this prestigious event since our latest hosting in the year 2000.

     The ASEAN tourism industry continues to evolve, and we can all take pride in the ongoing contributions made by the industry in bringing the 10 member nations closer together, there by stimulating economic growth, environmental conservation and the sharing of multi-facetted cultural heritage.

     We look upon travel and tourism as major contributors towards the building of understanding and friendship among peoples of ASEAN and the world. Through such events as the ATF a holistic approach has been adopted, demonstrating that the tourism industry is concerned not only with material gain, but also the betterment of society as a whole.

    The annual rotation of ATF and TRAVEX among the ASEAN countries enables each member to showcases the diversity of our tourism attractions while maintaining the unity of ASEAN in the international tourism community.

    As it is Thailand's turn to host ATF 2008, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, the airlines of other ASEAN countries. The travel trade associations and other public and private sector organizations are working closely to ensure the success of this event.
